Emerging Still
Francisco Camacho
Emerging Still unfolds from the indivisibility of body and space, understood as a reality in continuous transformation. Each presence participates in a same field of relationships, where matter, movement, perception and environment influence one another. The body does not simply occupy a place; it takes shape according to its surroundings and transforms itself as it transforms that very field.
A propagating effect prevails. One gesture extends another; a single change reorganises the whole; one single presence alters the conditions in which the others move and are perceived. The choreography is constructed through these continuous reverberations, giving rise to transient configurations that transcend each individual body and find their consistency in the whole.
As the landscape takes shape, it is traversed by other forces that modify the conditions of existence. Materials and colours cease to merely accompany the reconfiguration of bodies, and instead introduce new systems of value, where sheen and appearance dispute the realm of making, of contacting and of acting. Between operating on the world and the fascination of the surface, dance does not seek to resolve an opposition, but to remain alert within that tension.
