ON TOUR » IM-
A collaboration between the choreographer Francisco Camacho and the visual artist Vera Mota.
Francisco Camacho, based in Lisbon, has been working as choreographer and performer, collaborating with different artists like Meg Stuart and Alain Platel, along with several Portuguese artists.
The young artist Vera Mota is based in Porto. Her work covers different media, from video and photography to drawing and installation. She often presents performance work in galleries, art fairs and performance venues or festivals.
Considering their differences in generation and in the social contexts they live in, on this piece they decided to approach matters relating to cultural diversity as well as the different levels in culture (popular vs. elitist, high vs. low).
im- addresses a number of issues relating to our time, be it the idea of the loss of reality as put forward by Jean Baudrillard or testing the possibility of a return to the Real as defended by Hal Foster.
Aware of the impact of communication media in contemporary society and the proximity that Internet allows globally, the artists wanted to reserve space for small gestures and traces that distinguish people and smaller environments.
